D District – An area encompassing a number of Rotary Clubs

DG
District Governor. The guy or gel with whom the buck stops

IPDG
Immediate Past District Governor – the boss of last year

PDG
Past District Governor – a ‘”‘has been” of yesteryears.

DGE
District Governor Elect – the annual re-inventor of the wheel

DGN
District Governor Nominee – has ambition to be a PDG

DAG
Assistant Governor – has ambition to be a DG (maybe)

RI
Rotary International – the world organisation of Rotary Clubs

RIBI
Rotary International in Great Britain and Ireland

PRIBI
President of RIBI – highest off in RIBI

PPRIBI
Past President of RIBI – toppled off the top!

RlC
The Rotary International Constitution – the gospel

SRCC
The Standard Rotary Club Constitution – the Rule Book

MOP
The Manual of Procedure – a Rotary Reference book – The Bible

COL
Council on Legislation – Rotary’s triennial parliament

GC
General Council – The Officers of RIBI + 29 DGs

DSO District Standing Orders – a meetings reference booklet


OV
The Official Visit of the District Governor – to meet the clubs

RC
Rotary Club of — followed by the name of a club

JVP
Junior Vice President – the man or woman often “pressed into service”

SVP
Senior Vice President – in between JVP and PE

PE
President Elect of a member club of RI – an embryonic DG

PETS
Presidents Elect Training Seminar – The how to do it school

DOTS
District Officers Training Seminar – a rung on the ladder

DT
District Trainer

RYLA
Rotary Youth Leadership Award – young folks activity

PHF
Paul Harris Fellow – an Award in recognition of Service

IW
Inner Wheel – a “sister” service organisation in its own right

AGM
Annual General Meeting – a requirement at all Rotary levels

SGM
Special General Meeting – Annual meeting for nominations

EGM
Extraordinary General Meeting – a short notice gathering·
