Sarah spoke to the group about her visit to Southern Africa and Lesotho as part of the Group Study Exchange (GSE) in 2009. The GSE provides opportunities for young professionals (non-Rotarians) to participate in a 4-week exchange visit to another Rotary District in another country.
Sarah is a Police Inspector for Thames Valley Police and she travelled to central Southern Africa and Lesotho (District 9320) with three others – a teacher, a paramedic and a buyer for a food retailer. She told us how the group was looked after by Rotarians in District 9320 and how she visited police stations in the district, while the other three visitors spent time with organisations related to their own professions.
Sarah told us how she had gained a huge amount from the trip and how she valued the opportunity to see policing in different countries.
The 2010-2011 exchange will be with D4855 Argentina from 18th April to 16th May 2011
