Winnie-The-Pooh: Our newest club member

The club announced that it had awarded the real Winnie-the-Pooh toy bear, which belonged to Christopher Robin, honorary Rotary membership, on 18th January, the anniversary of A A Milne’s birth and so now celebrated as Winnie the Pooh Day.
In September 2015 Club member Lesley Adams travelled to New York on holiday and visited the New York Public Library, where Christopher Robin’s toys now reside, to present the award to Winnie-the-Pooh on behalf of the Rotary Club. Pooh, along with Tigger, Kanga, Eeyore and Piglet, were receiving some much needed restoration at the time of her visit so Louise Lareau, Managing Librarian at the Children’s Centre, accepted the award on behalf of the famous bear.
